Luca Zatreanu, MD

Luca Zatreanu, M.D., is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal conditions. He holds medical licenses in the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and California. He currently delivers his medical care in the Philadelphia, PA and Camden, NJ areas, where he also is responsible for training and teaching Wills Eye residents at the Cooper University Medical Center.

As its newest member, Dr. Zatreanu brings a unique perspective to Soll Eye, having lived in multiple areas and trained beside world leaders in the field of Medical Retina and Ophthalmic Genetics. Born in Bucharest, Romania, Dr. Zatreanu moved to the U.S. at a young age. He grew up mostly in New York but has maintained his roots with annual trips to Europe.

Dr. Zatreanu specializes in the care of various Medical Retinal conditions, including vitreous floaters (posterior vitreous detachments), age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, epiretinal membrane, retinitis pigmentosa, and various other retinal dystrophies and degenerations. He is also a skilled cataract and anterior segment surgeon. His research interests have included the uses and applications of ophthalmic imaging to clinical practice.

In his spare time, Dr. Zatreanu enjoys playing basketball, traveling, and exploring various cuisines. He is fluent in English and Romanian and is proficient in French and Spanish.
